Persecution is coming. It has been here for two millennia for many believers in many places at many points in history. But persecution on a massive scale is approaching—quickly it would seem. The five verses of today’s text from Revelation 14 may seem like a mere narrative of what eventually happens to the 144,000 introduced in chapter 7. Yet, when we consider carefully these five verses, we encounter an encouragement, a challenge, and an example, all of which will be not merely helpful, but absolutely essential.
