We have no trouble, in 2021, imagining sports contests held in vacant or nearly vacant arenas. But could anyone imagine a sports venue hosting a world championship contest to a sell-out crowd where the victory is gained in the final few seconds with the entire crowd sitting silent? Of course not. Today’s text in Revelation 11 describes the response of heaven to the culmination of human history as Christ begins to conspicuously take His rightful place of Sovereign Lord. In light of what will happen then, where should our sentiments lie now?
