The Lord’s Cause
Previously, in chapter 13, Ezekiel speaks out against the lying prophets, those who claimed to speak for God. Here, in chapter 14, he is approached by some of the leaders of the Jewish exiles in Babylon, ostensibly to inquire of the Lord, but God reveals to Ezekiel, his true prophet, what is in the heart of these idolatrous elders and how he should rebuke them. Yet in all this God delineates His promise to His people and the fact that He does nothing without eternal purpose.
